Discipline
Discipline is rather different at the New Generation College . It is our philosophy to treat our students as young adults, readying them for the university life they will lead in their immediate futures. We recognize that too many students from private schools find the freedom of university life overwhelming – failure or dropping out can result. The New Generation College grants considerable freedom to students: they sign in rather than taking a roll call; they are free to go off-campus for short periods in the day; and they do not have uniforms. We also train students to take responsibility for their own learning: we do not contact parents over small breaches of discipline (including occasional lateness or absence) and we do not have parent-teacher evenings. Students are continually told that only they are responsible for their results –it is their VCE, their career, their life
